Edwin Mesones
Program Head Coach
Edwin has been coaching competitive club soccer for over 14 years in just Arizona alone. He has coached State League teams, competitive USL, and is constantly looking for ways to improve his coaching ability. He has been assistant coach to many of the bigger names in US Soccer including Todd Higley (US National Men’s team 1995); Karla Thompson (US Youth Soccer Director); and Dominick Papa (USL Player and current Brophy Assistant).
He started his coaching career in California with Acalanes High School as the defensive coach and assistant coach. He then moved to Chico for college to play D2 and ended his career in Phoenix playing Community College.
Received his US Soccer Licenses – Youth License, E License, State D License, National D License.
Edwin has played at a high level both in College, and with top High School team in Northern California. He looks forward to continuing his journey coaching and continuing his license education.

Personal- Edwin has his Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications from Arizona State University and his Masters in Finance from Colorado State University.
Ethan Dougherty
Varsity Co - Head Coach
Ethan Dougherty is entering his third year as the assistant coach of Mountain View High School for the 2023/24 season, after starting to work with the team in November of 2021. During the 22-23 high school season Mountain View soccer had its most successful year in over a decade with a 9-2-1 record and winning their region. The Toros successes included the region defensive player of the year, five players in the All region first team, three players in the All region second team, four honorable mentions and additionally being awarded the Region Coach of the Year.
Also during the 22-23 season, Ethan started his first year coaching at Phoenix College where he was a part of the best junior college program in the state. During his time at Phoenix college, Ethan gained vital experience and knowledge when running training sessions, conducting pre-match team talks, and leading pre-match warm-ups. While coaching in college he assisted in video analysis of Phoenix College’s games, training session planning and implementation, and player recruitment. The team had a very successful season going 15-1-3, becoming back to back Region 1 Division 2 champions, having the NJCAA player of the year, and winning the NJCAA National Staff of the year.
Previously Ethan spent two years with the Grand Canyon University men’s soccer program from 2019 to 2021, one year as an intern and one year as a volunteer. In the 2020 season (played during the spring of 2021), GCU won the WAC conference going undefeated during the regular season play and made their second NCAA tournament appearance. In that season, Ethan worked with the WAC Coaching Staff of the year, where he gained vital knowledge and experience. That year the team had five players in all WAC selection and 4 honorable mentions, Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, and one All-American selection. Two players that Ethan worked with were drafted 1st round into the MLS.
During his time at GCU, he aided the assistant coach, Vlastimir Davidovic’s efforts in video analysis of GCU’s team, scouting presentations on opponents, practice implementation, and player recruitment, while also assisting in operating the program’s camps.
Dougherty’s coaching background began at TFA Barca in 2017 which later merged into East Valley NSFC. In 2019, Ethan helped his 2003 NSFC boys team win Presidents cup. And in 2022, he assisted the 2003 EV NSFC boys team to win State cup. He began coaching high school soccer at Higley in 2019 and has a national “D” license, working towards a National “C” license certificate for coaching and will be continuing his licensing when available.
Ethan graduated with the Moeur award and Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Community Sports Management from Arizona State University.

Dusty currently coaches at Arizona Arsenal. He played for 12 years at Mesa Soccer Club, played at Mesa High School and holds his USSF D License

Jerrick Walker
JV- B Assistant Coach
Jerrick’s experience with soccer mostly comes from playing. Having played and graduated from Harmony High School in St. Cloud, Florida, Jerrick was able to play against nationally ranked-teams during his high school career. Shortly after graduating high school, Jerrick moved to Idaho to pursue a college degree. After his first year in college, Jerrick decided to pursue a history degree and live in Mexico City where he studied Latin American studies, learned Spanish, and played on local soccer teams. After 18 months, Jerrick moved back to Idaho to complete his degree in History Education. Upon returning to college, Jerrick participated in several competitive soccer leagues in Idaho, advancing to the Idaho State Cup tournament.
After graduating college, Jerrick began teaching at a charter school in Idaho Falls. During this time, Jerrick joined the Idaho Falls Futbol Club (IFFC), serving as an assistant coach to the U18 Girls' soccer team. After a successful season, Jerrick wished to move to Arizona to teach and coach a more diverse population. Jerrick joined the Mountain View High School coaching staff in 2022, serving as the JVB assistant coach, and announcer for the JV and Varsity programs. Jerrick also coached Charles D. Poston Jr. High School’s 7th-grade soccer team in 2023, which went undefeated in their first season.
Jerrick is concluding his initial coaching certifications and wishes to complete his “D” license within the next year. He will continue his coaching and licensing education as they become available.
